6/18//02: Aaaaaah, finally a chance to breathe a sigh of relief! In late March, my pal Georgie emailed me and asked me to music direct a portion of a play she wrote and directed, called "Totally Tony." It's basically a musical theater revue type show, but the premise is a mock Tony Awards show. The actors were between the ages of 6 and about 17.

Georgie asked me to music direct the senior cast in a medley of songs from Rent. Strangely enough, I had never heard the music from the show before, so I just kinda winged it basedon the arrangement I was given. The medley was a Mac Huff SSA arrangement that was absolutely beautiful, except for the fact that our cast had men in it, so I had to rewrite the harmonies since we didn't have enough time to purchase the SAB arrangement. The kids busted their hineys and the show wound up sounding really great.

The last weekend of the show I borrowed Jeremy's DAT equipment and I taped the show, and the recording came out beautifully. I let the cast and directors hear it, and they actually got choked up. :-)

Anyhoo, as a cast gift, we decided to burn CDs of the show, and we'll get them out to the actors this week.

The show took place at Wilmington Drama League, which is a cute 300-seat theater just down the street from me. I've only seen one show there, and it was pretty decent. I did find out that they're doing Jesus Christ Superstar there in January, and dammit, I am going to get in that show. My dream is to play Judas, but it takes a certain kind of director who is willing to cast Judas as a chick. But hey, it took a special director to cast a chick as Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors, so hopefully luck will be on my side. Either way, I haven't been able to stop listening to the Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack for the past week. Murray Head is a god.

As for the lard update, as of this weekend, I'm down 60 pounds. I can't believe it. Who is this svelte size 14-16 chick looking back at me in the mirror??

One of these days I'll get around to taking pictures... the ones I have are about 30 pounds out of date.
