So I was yapping with my good pal Amy last night, and she said that she watched this neat foreign film which posed this question: When you go Heaven, you are asked to choose one perfect memory which you'll spend the rest of eternity reliving. What memory do you pick?
Seriously think about this. It's not easy.
But it did get me thinking that I really am so very lucky to have so many amazing memories from which to choose.
Anyway, after lots of consideration, I couldn't decide if it should be a funny moment, a triumphant moment, a defining moment, a proud moment... so I chose a few.
Funny moment: Toss-up between making up songs about Spiro T. Agnew with my brother at home playing our crappy organ that only kinda worked, or Jeremy and Mark attacking each other in Jerm's apartment pool (still one of the funniest damn things I've ever seen).
Triumphant moment: Kicking the absolute ass out of "Life Without the Hero" and "Hands of Time" back to back during an Evelyn Situation gig circa 1994 and getting a standing O; hopefully when I finish the Bike to the Bay next month!
Defining moment:After having driven to Arizona from NJ with my dad to move me out to Tempe, I dropped my dad off at the Phoenix airport so he could fly back to Jersey. My defining moment was when I arrived at my new apartment in Tempe, and suddenly realized that I lived 2200 miles from my nearest friend or relative. I had no job, no acquaintences, no food in the fridge, nada. Now that's freedom. Damn, I love that feeling.
Magical moment: My 2-week tour of Europe with my college Madrigal group, singing perfect music in ancient cathedrals and concert halls; or my quasi-rebellious 3-week random road trip of the southwestern U.S. with Pete in 1993 - I remember how my face hurt from smiling so much; eating my birthday box lunch in the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs with Jerm, sitting on top of a Papago-esque giant red rock we'd climbed.
What about you?
