11/13/02: Yeah, yeah... it's been a while...

I know, It's been well over a month since I've posted anything. Sorry kids!

I've been pretty busy.

Work has been nuts as I'm entrenched in heated contract negotiations, which is taking up every goof-off moment I used to have during the business day.

Play rehearsals for Jesus Christ Superstar at Wilmington Drama League have been going swimmingly well... the show is going to be really great as far as I can tell. The cast is solid, the directors are fabulous and I don't have to dance near as I can tell. :-D

The dude who is playing Jesus will be famous, and I have absolutely no doubt in my mind about it. He's got absolutely everything going for him-- totally has that star quality je ne sais quoi thang. He's like 6'3 or something, he's got a perfectly buff (but not overbuff) 18 year old body, amazing stage presence, perfect hair, a very expressive face, perfect teeth/skin, an AMAZINGLY wide vocal range (and not just pitch-range, but dynamic range, emotional range... the whole schmegege), he moves very very well... anyhoos, he's like a freak of nature he's so talented. So I gotta make sure I do a good job in this show because in 10 years they'll have a clip of it for when he's on Behind the Music. :-) And then they'll interview me and say, "Hey, what was it like to work with Rory Donovan?" and they'll play the clip of me and Rory singing, and then some famous director will see how great I am and then I'll become rich and famous and then I'll buy a big house and have a pool guy and a dog and a bird and I'll teach it to talk and then I'll get a Mini Cooper and I'll have a fridge with a built-in replicator and accidentally one of my servants will replicate two rabbits and then they will multiply both naturally and via the replicator and then the earth will be taken over by rabbits all because of Rory Donovan.

*ahem.*

In other news, I got a cool church job for some extra fart-around cash. I sing alto at the Cathedral Church of Saint John, which is an Episcopal cathedral in Wilmington. It rocks. I *love* singing in this choir. Like, in the past, I could always get by on my sight-reading skills, but in this choir, frikkin' everyone has music degrees it seems, so we spend ZERO time hacking out parts and all our time on the tiniest of details. The choir is very polished and very disciplined, and a really great time. I love the challenge, and I think it's made me a better singer/musician.

And in other news...

The second thing is this... I MET A GUY!

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!

His name is Rob, and he totally, totally rules. I can't remember the last time I was this excited about meeting a new person! So get this: He's got a music compostion degree, but he's a computer guy (sound familiar?). He's 35, he lives in West Chester, PA, and he's absolutely brilliant. He's TOTALLY "one of us" if you know what I mean. He's hilarious, sweet, cute, chivalrous (but not annoyingly so), supremely dorky, comfy, really quick, exceptionally on the ball... just amazing. Absloutely unreal! I can't fathom that this guy just fell into my lap like this. To think, all from a personal ad. Hmm! How dorky!

So yeah, in mid-October, I posted a personal ad on Yahoo, and I was flooded with a million loser responses-- except for Rob's which was absolutely fantastic. We immediately hit it off, and started a feverish email correspondence. After about a week, we finally met at a Borders and ajourned to a diner, where we sat until 2:00am on a schoolnight, as if we'd known each other for years. We're taking things slowly as to be careful not to muck anything up. We have very weird things in common, and every day we find even creepier ones. It's a good time, and I'm enjoying the hell out of this. It's so nice to feel liked and generally dug. Who knows what'll come of it, but it's a fun ride nonetheless.

On top of all this fun, Chris Adams (aka Hamlet) has moved back to Delaware, so I've been hanging out with the UD crowd some more. Last Saturday was Adam Bragg's 30th birthday party, and I got to finally meet allllllll those people who Jeremy told me stories about but never got to meet. It was a UD reunion of sorts, and everyone was *very* happy to see each other. Most of these folks didn't know who I was since I appeared after Jerm graduated UD, but they were all super-cool and I feel like I've expanded my social circle a bit.

So that's that!

So hopefully that explains why I've been so quiet... just been busy. Gee, it only took me what, 3.5 years of living here to get to this point, eh?
