11/21/04: church freak

Today was churchtastic. I sang at the regular service in the morning, and we had an evensong in the afternoon. The evensong went really well, and I love singing these things. We get to do really great music and not a whole lot of extraneous prayer-stuff, so I get the most bang for my choir-slut buck. The evensong tonight was to thank all the people who donated money to the Cathedral Choir School of Delaware, and afterwards we had an English high-tea in the Great Room. It was great-- scones, clotted cream, jam, tea, finger sandwiches, foofy plates, the whole nine yards. Very fancy and yummy-- it was the first time I had done high-tea, though Jeremy has been wanting to go with me for 10 years... we just never got around to it.

Anyway, I sat at a dainty little table with Wally, The Hearn and Ernest, and we had a rockin' good time. Angel, Issa and Mickey scammed my camera phone and were snapping pictures, so the event was fully documented and my poor phone memory maxxed out. :-)

Holy cow, clotted cream is beyond yummy. Good lordy.

Very lovely. (yes, I know I need a haircut.)

Angel was all excited that his "patented pose"
was captured on electrons

Note the pinkies. How dainty!

Anyhoo, that lasted about 90 minutes, and after it was all done, Peggy graciously invited us to go to dinner with them at Eclipse (warning, the link has music-- though it is way cool music... let it play). Hearn had to jet, so Wally and I headed over. I'd never been there before, but it's very cute, and apparently one of the chefs used to be at The Corner Bistro. No wonder the food was so good! It wound up being Darryl and Matt, Peggy and Ernest and me and Wally. I love hanging out with them-- we are always laughing when we're together. I'm very lucky to have them in my life; they totally show the love, yo. They call themselves "flaming liberals" which I think pretty much describes the congregation, too. It's a good place.

Due to Thanksgiving being this week (yay!), we have choir rehearsal tomorrow night (Monday) instead of the usual Wednesday. I'm not sure when I'll be heading up northward to NJ, or when I'll be returning to Delaware for that matter. I have to work on Friday (ack), but I'm not sure if my boss has notified the client of my work-from-home-every-other-Friday dilly. So I'm not sure if I'll need to be back down here for Friday morning-- I sure hope not. Also, Jeff tells me that Durk and Daphne and their rockin' new offspring are gonna be in NJ on Saturday and they wanna get together. I definitely want to see them, but if I have to work on Friday in person here, then it might not be wise. We'll see.

OK, over and oot.

Fortune Teller Miracle Fish today tells me that I am: A dead one.   I guess it's time for me to put the heat on, then, hmm?
