8/05/01: I had a really fun weekend. In fact, I had a pretty fun string of weekends.

I just realized that I didn't tell you how my managerial rah-rah retreat went. It was pretty much a cheerleading session, but it meant well and was probably very effective for the folks at which it was aimed. It seemed to be designed for managers who are in-house, but since I work out at a client site, I didn't feel like too much applied. But that's okay. The best part about the weekend was the trip to Atlantic City on Thursday night, where I won $250 playing the quarter slots, and I broke even sitting at a $10.00 blackjack table. I had never sat at a casino table before, and it was way cool.

The other cool part was that I got the greatest facial of my life at the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa... hubba hubba. I'm kind of a conoisseur of facials, and this one was by far the best I'd ever had. I'll spare you the details, but trust me, it was really awesome.

I spent the rest of that weekend down in Tuckerton NJ, with Liz and Lorraine (my old college roommates). We all decided to leave spouses and offspring home, and it was really great to just bond with the girls again. I hadn't seen them in such a long time. Some of the weekend highlights included shopping at a zillion little tchotchke shops, going to a haunted dinner theater in Cape May, visiting the Smithville Shops, and having the greatest brunch of my 30-year existence at the Renault Winery. Oh yeah, and I went to the emergency room again for my heart. (No biggie- I was out in 2 hours. Still no idea on what these attacks are.)

Anyhoo, this weekend, Danielle is in town from Arizona, and she took the train down to Wilmington. Cris and Lisa drove down Friday night, and the four of us spent the day in New Hope as planned. There was a mega-super-sonic thunderstorm of hell which passed directly over our heads, which was way cool. It rained pretty hard all day, but it didn't ruin things too badly. That night, we had dinner at the Melting Pot in Wilmington. Cris and Lisa finally got to meet Jason, and I believe they approve.

Today, Jason and I went to a Blue Rocks game. It was so hot and humid that we left at the top of the 8th inning. We were winning 5-0, so I felt pretty good about leaving. Because you know that my presence alone dictates the outcome of the game. :-)

This upcoming week will be the week from hell at work. My workflow coordinator (Rosa) and my tech lead (Joe) are both out on vacation, and it's gonna be rough holding down the fort without them. The good news is that the next week, I go on vacation to Charleston, SC with Jason, to watch the Perseids meteor shower from some dark beach. Can't wait!

I'm beat. I'm hitting the hay.

I feel a bit like Doogie Howser typing in my little computer memoirs each night. Tee hee!

Night!
