9/09/01:I have found love. It's name is Breyer's Ice Cream Parlor Heath Bar Caramel Ice Cream. Good God, I have a problem. You know that new Edy's Dreamery commercial, where the frenzied parents eat nothing but ice cream for every meal? That's my life. That's me.

Okay, maybe not really, but you get the picture that it's damn tasty.

I went to my folks' house again last weekend, for the Knapp Family Labor Day Barbecue. It was a rollicking good time, since I got to see my awesome family, plus some extended family that I don't get to see very often. My Uncle Chris (not really an uncle) was there -- he's been my dad's best pal since grade school. He's a freakin' rip-- he cracks me up and I absolutely love him to death. He just got a new PT Cruiser and he let me take it for a spin. My dad is right-- it's pretty gutless (considering it's just a Neon with a fancy [and heavier] body), but it's just so cute that I simply must own one. As soon as they come out with a V6, it will be mine mine mine. I wonder if they have it in taxicab yellow?

Anyhoo, I also got to spend lots of time with Molly, who is just cooler than ever. We went searching for rocks and sticks in the backyard and we washed them off with the garden hose. Wooooooo! Then Molly said, "Let's play snake." So I said, "Sounds like fun. How do we play?" So she said, "Well, I'll be a snake, and you pretend that you want a snake." So we did. She slithered around in the grass, and I walked around looking for a snake. I looked behind trees, I looked under the deck, until I stumbled upon the MollySnake, and was, of course, very excited to have found such a lovely specimen. I picked it up and flung it around, and yelled, "He everybody! Look at this beautiful snake I found!" It was awesome.

Molly read me a book about a tyrannosaurus rex. She is such a great reader, too. She reads with feeling, inflection and solid understanding. She's four. I have friends who are 30 who can't read like she can. :-)

I also got to spend some great quality time with my dad on Saturday. It was such a beautiful day, and we just sat our butts on the deck with some iced tea and magazines and books, and read and yapped and talked about life. It was one of those really wonderful and warm times, and I really hope that man knows how much of an impact he's had on my life. Not just the regular kind of dad-impact that dads make... something so much more substantial. My dad is just so awesome. He knows everything. I wish he would teach; I feel guilty knowing that I'm one of the few people who have been fortunate enough to have been taught life's lessons from him. He's so wise and brilliant and festive; so many people need to hear what he has to say.

In other news, my pal Quaf is going on vacation to Arizona with his wife, and asked me for cool stuff to see out there. This was actually good, because I've been meaning to document my world famous Arizona Whirlwind Tour... which is the tour I'd bring all my out-of-state visitors on when they'd visit me in Arizona for a long weekend. The tour shows you around my favorite Arizona spots in four days. There's a lot of driving, but AZ is a big state, so you just know to bring good stuff to listen to on the journey. If you want to read it, grab it here. It's in Word 2000 format, though I'm sure you can read it in Word 97. Just realize that I wrote it for them, and it mentions what the weather is going to be like in September, because obviously that's when they're going. So deal.   Here it is (it's a Word doc)... You might want to right-click the link and do a Save Target As... otherwise IE will try to open the doc in the browser and then your life will suck.

I'm falling asleep typing this, so I gotta go to bed. I'll write more in the morning, mayhaps.

Night!
